While I agree in principle, how far does it go? Can I post a picture of me and my ex girlfriend in our sexy Halloween costumes and say "this was me and my ex-girlfirend at last year's Halloween party, man I hate her now"? What about pictures of us kissing? The funny picture where we groped each other right as the flash went off? I suppose nobody's nude in any of those. Although I'm surprised that it isn't already illegal where the woman in question hasn't signed a release form. It's an act of revenge and an act of ongoing harassment with potentially dangerous or career-destroying results to a woman. If you can prove that the boyfriend maliciously posted the pictures online, it should be a criminal act. Nurglitch: Rincewind53: I'm okay with it entirely. Its like looking down an alley one day and you think you see a sex shop, you go to investigate and you find another city next to the city you were just at that sells nothing but porn. People think they know how much porn there is on the internet. It would destroy their main competitors (amateur sites) instantly.
It would also free a shiat ton of bandwidth! Actual porn "businesses" online that makes their own content would dump millions into lobbyist to make just such a law happen.
This would effectively eliminate 90% of the porn on the internet over night.
Jim_Callahan: Honestly, no one should be hosting any type of porn without ID verification for age anyhow, just make a law that requires that that verification come in the form of a signed, witnessed statement with ID that not only are you 18, but you consent to this video being distributed. The "this is my ex-girlfriend" schtick is the same as the pizza guy showing up in the short shorts with a large sausage in '70s porn- yes, it's the premise, but they're actors. And, ironically, wouldn't even reduce the amount of this content on the 'net, since most "revenge porn" is exactly like other "amateur" porn- made by industry professionals in a studio that's fully licensed and regularly inspected, probably even unionized. That'd be significantly more effective in suppressing this kind of crap than trying to track down and pin the people making and releasing the videos- though, don't get me wrong, going after them too is a good plan as well. Make it an automatic takedown for any site hosting any un-verified video, and a fine for doing it knowingly.
